SharePoint Approval Workflow Stages - how does it work?

Hi,

i've created Approval workflow in designer and it contain 3 stages one after another.

The thing is that also the first approver reject a document - the approval task is still being sent to the next approvers. At the end of process the result was "rejected" (but it is displayed only after each stage was done, some task owners approve and one rejected...), can someone explain?
