I detect an nasty effect on sites & features of SharePoint 2010, the "Create New Page" option (to the site actions menu - topleft) disappears depending on the site or subsites versus the model used to create the basis for the site.
Even after if we activate by the same features on these sites, the results are not identical ....
This only happens for sites created from a different model than "Team Site".
example:
[Site1]
Create a new site from the team site template. Activated the "SharePoint Server Publishing". Result: you have access to the option "create new page" in the site actions menu (top left).
[On subsite Site1]
Finally, create a new subsite to this Site1 with a basic model like "Empty Site" activated "SharePoint Server Publishing" feature and Wiki (Homepage Wiki) in order to use the option "Create New Page" which allows you to quickly
create Wiki content, you lose everytime this option in the site actions menu and must go through to create "More Options" to be able to do same thing.
Has you can check, the top site et subsite can have the same features active on, the option isn't show on subsite.
The goal is to remain pointed at the library pages "Site Pages" and not "Pages", and especially the link "New Page" is displayed at all times in the share options of the site!
I put a wart in the masterpage used on the entire intranet and trafficker CSS and control SharePoint: FeatureMenuTemplate to solve this "bug", but it's not a clean solution.
Unofficially it is a bug in Microsoft, but I do not have the internal "microsoft" card to formalize and prove it ... :o)
If you have a full explanation, let me know!
cheers!
