Change the width of Columns in List View Web Part in SP2010

Hi,

Please let me know, how we can change the width of columns in the ListView in SP2010. We have a column 'Comments' with type multi-line text - and some the values are really long. In ListView looks like the COlumn Name is defined by the width of the characters in the column header.

I tried opening the List in SPD 2010 - selected the column and extended it, however on saving the webpage is not updated.

Please help me with this.
