Will changing the folder hierarchy in a SharePoint 2010 document library with a custom Content Type break the metadata (attributes of the content type defined on the documents)?

In our SharePoint 2010 site, we had created a content type called ‘Finance’ by defining some metadata (columns). Then we added that content type to a document library called, ‘Financial Docs’. Whenever a user adds a document to this library, he/she is required to first fill in the metadata (the columns defined in the content type ‘Finance’). Using those columns we have created several views of the document library (using Group By, Filter and Sort clauses etc). Moreover, for restricting access to certain groups of users to only to certain types of documents, we have created folders in the same library, say, Folder1, Folder2,… etc. and set permissions on them.

Now, we plan to change the folder structures in our library by adding one more layer to the folders as follows:

Folder1/Subfolder1, Folder2/Subfolder2, …..etc.

Question: Will changing the folder structure by adding one more layer in the hierarchy of folders (as shown above) effect the metadata (columns of the content type)? For instance, will it break the views created based on the columns of the content types?

Thanks..Nam
