Hello. We have a user running Office 2013 Word in Windows 7 Pro in a domain environment, and our network is running SharePoint WSS 3.0. We have a word document in a document library in SharePoint that is set to read only for multiple users. If a user opens
that word document in any prior version of Office (IE Word 2010) she can open it read only, and still fill out the fallible form and save it to her desktop. When opening in Word 2013 read only, in order to fill out the form portion of the document she has
to click "check-out", then she naturally gets a message saying she does not have the right to check it out.
Is there a way on Office 2013 to allow them to open word documents from SharePoint read only, but still be able to fill out the fallible forms portions like in previous office versions? I'm sure I can change the word document permissions so that you need a password to change the document, except the fallible form portion, however we have over 20 misc word documents this would need to be done to, and it worked in previous versions.
