we have a "list" on our SP2010, and it contains forms. office documents are attached to these forms.(see below pic)
Users with contribute permission on the List have no problem access to this list and open these attachments via office application (xls or doc files). However, when comes to xlsx or docx, these files will be opened via browser and users will get a access denied screen.
is there a way to fix this? i want to manually change the default behavior to open office files on this list, but since it's a list it doesn't have the option to change that (unlike a document library). Or we can fix this via the permission site, Administrator have no problem to open these files via browser. so the files themselves have no problems
