SiteAssets already exists but not found

I tried creating a custom library called "SiteAssets" in SP2010 but SharePoint says it already exists.  When I attempt to pull it up using mysiteurl/siteassets/forms/allitems.aspx, it throws a not found.  Is it there or not?  When i create  new site assets type library, it called it siteassets1?  I'm really confused.  How can something that is not found exist?  Can someone explain?  It does not show in View All Site Content, Only "Site Assets" shows (Url: Site%20Assets).
