I am new to SharePoint, very new. A little background first:
I inherited a SharePoint 2010 site and in the course of writing about SharePoint, InfoPath, and using workflows, I think I may have an idea to help my department with a form that is filled out multiple times each week.
Question:
I would like to know if it is possible to create a workflow which would do the following after a user checks a checkbox:
open a cancellation form
populate the form with SharePoint item information
Allow user to choose a reason for the cancellation
email form
Is this too complicated?
I am downloading copies of Word documents that are sourced from a SharePoint document library that includes two "Person or Group" columns, which are linked to our organization's staff directory.
When I try to open the now-local copy, I am getting two SP authentication requests, presumably, one for each column.
Is there a way to prevent this authentication request from appearing, now that the copy of the original file is off SP?
Thanks
I have read multiple articles on how to do this, but I am running into problems.
The problem may lie in how I am trying to implement this.
I have a list with a form that I will be using for feedback purposes. I have created a link on the left-hand navigation called Feedback which appears on multiple pages. I want a user to be able to click on this link and have a modal form pop-up over their current page. When finished, the modal form should disappear and allow them to continue what they were doing. Therefore the user never sees the list where the feedback is housed, only I do as the admin.
This seems slightly different from what others have tried to do: implementing a button (using a CEWP) which, when clicked, opens a modal dialogue. Perhaps I am just too dimwitted to figure this out. Is this possible?
thank you!
HI All,
Client object model class List provides one property DefaultViewURL which essentially returns me relative path of List address(URL). Is there any property of Client context object model where i can get complete Web address of Sharepoint list. e.g.
Complete address - http://wid038/TestSite/Lists/233333/view.aspx
DefaultViewURL- TestSite/Lists/233333/view.aspx
Thanks

after having created a portal on a development platform, I made a backup Sql server then restores the production platform with sql server.
Two problems :
Problem 1:
1 in libraries error "An unexpected error" when creating FOLDER from ribbon even with Action page -> Manage content and structure. I could only create a folder with "Open with Explorer" in the ribbon. In the folder I created, i can create
a subfolder with ribbon, but not a folder in the root of the library. I create a sub sites and in this case it does not have any problem, I created a folder !!!
Problem 2:
2 The search from the search box in the lists and library does not work. I need it working. I create a search site and it works fine, but I want to do research on lists and libraries.

Recently i have tried capture version automatically with share Point designer by configure workflow with the action capture version, the problem is when i modify document set properties the workflow go on and the result was that the last modify is appear but the workflow create other 5 versions for example with empty details so i cannot know the modification happened before unless the last modify.
i have installed share point cumulative update December 2014 but the problem still appear, also i add action wait for before capture version condition but not work.

Hi All,
We have a form library with around 2000 InfoPath forms submitted successfully, but suddenly from the couple of weeks noticing that, the users are able to submit the form successfully without
any issues but the referenced .xml file is physically not
getting saved and the strange thing is it's reference(i.e. xml) is available. When we try opening the form it gives below error.<o:p></o:p>
“InfoPath cannot open the following file ‘formpath/.xml’ ”<o:p></o:p>
When we try viewing the version history, it gives below error:<o:p></o:p>
"The URL 'filename.xml' is invalid. It may refer to a nonexistent file or folder, or refer to a valid file or folder that is not in the current web"<o:p></o:p>
I have also looked at the logs but not much information. Can someone help me?

We have public facing websites that were originally built with SharePoint 2007 then upgraded to SharePoint 2010. However, some of our customers who use Apple Macs and iPads are having issues with the top navigation links (global navigation).
When they try to click on the top navigation, the navigation is not linked (i.e. it is only text and not links).
The customer has said that they this is happening with Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari on their Apple Mac. They have also had the issues on iPads using Safari. Unfortunately, I do not have access to an Apple Mac or iPad to test.
Our website addresses are: www.wdc.govt.nz and www.whangarei-libraries.com
Has anyone else had these issues? If so, did you manage to fix them and how?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Got a strange intermittent issue occurring after we upgraded our SharePoint 2010 farm to Service Pack 2.
The upgrade was successful on all of our servers with no errors and generally performance is a little quicker as should be expected. However we have an intermittent issue where some site collections within the main web application become unresponsive.
We have 2 front end servers sitting behind a network load balancer.
All sites have a dedicated content database.
The issue occurs on either front end server.
An app pool recycle fixes the issue until it occurs again, however we can't go recycling app pools constantly during business hours as we have around 3000 users connecting to our SharePoint portal.
ULS logs and event logs don't show anything abnormal really (however just dialled up the logging to verbose to look into it further).
Any suggestions?
Hi All,
I got below error when run the workflow. But samething is working fine in other servers.
http://servername/sites/sitename has a problem with sending documents to the SharePoint 2010 server. Please contact your system administrator for assistance. The workflow must be manually restarted. You are currently listed as a site collection administrator RIM for this site, and therefore receive this warning.<o:p></o:p>
Could you please give me solution for this. Thanks ravi
Hi All,
Case 1.
I created one text file "test.txt". I opened this text file. The file was opened and i renamed the same open text file from "test.txt" to "tested.txt". i closed the open file. There was no warning message and operation executed successfully. The text file got renamed from "test.txt" to "tested.txt"
Case 2:
I created one text file "test.txt". I opened this text file. I copied this file and tried to paste on other folder path. It did not raise any warning message and the operation was successful. Same thing happens with files having extention .ini and .hed
Same thing does not happen with excel file. It raise exception and confirms with user saying the file is open. I believe in notepad also exception should be raised and confirmation should be taken from user when the file is in use.
Thanks,
Shamim
