Approval Workflow InfoPath Form

$

Hi

In an Approval Workflow Form; the functionality is to have a button ( that would open another InfoPath Form; not another View, but would open the form in another window ). The user would complete the action there; close the form; and then Approve or Reject the transaction.

I could not find any Rule that I could use to Open a Form. Is there any workaround to achieve the same.

I will be grateful for any pointers.

Thanks

Sharepoint 2010 - Opening PDF's in search results: "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"

$

Hi guys,

Was hoping you could help me?

I am running a SharePoint 2010 public site with anonymous access turned on. This issue is affecting host header site collections, all on the same web application.

When trying to open PDF documents from the search results in adobe reader. I get the "There was an error opening this document. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect" error.

* Permissive is turned on

* Server default (open in browser) is turned on for the library that has the documents

* This issue does not affect office documents

* If the PDF opens in the browser window, it works

* If the PDF opens in Adobe reader client, it gives the error "There was an error opening this document. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"

* If a new user to the site opens a PDF, the PDF opens in the IE window successfully. However if they click allow to the prompt in IE for the the Adobe Active X, any PDF after that will be opened in the Adobe client, and give the error.

* Firefox and Chrome open the document in the browser fine

* If you right click on the document link and open in a new IE tab, it opens fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mitch

Moving SharePoint

I guess this has been asked, but I cannot find any threads.

I need to know what the steps are to copy our SharePoint 2010 production server and make it our Development Server. I have so far built the new server and installed SharePoint 2010. This is on a separate network to that of our Production Server. I have also copied the WSS Database to another sql server. What do I need to do next as I am confused reading all the literature on the web.

Error while opening IRMS enabled documents

$

I have enabled IRMS settings at a document library in my site. I am having full control access to the site but I am not able to open any files under the library. I get an error message which says " cannot verify user information at this time. Do you want to open this file using different credentials?". When i click yes i get a message saying "You do not have credentials that allow you to open this workbook". This error occurs only to me and other full control users are able to do it. I created a new library and enabled the setting and tried there as well but the same error comes for me alonw. I tried on other machines too but no luck. I refreshed my profile at CA and  added myself again to the site but the issue is not solved. When the IRMS settings are disabled it works fine. Is there any solution for this?

How to automate IRMS feature

Hi,

We are maintaining SharePoint 2010, and used to create Site for users. Here we would like to enable IRMS feature by default when new site is created.

Is this possible? If so please share us the possibilities.

As of now we are enabling IRMS feature manually in document library every time when we create the site.

Addiing fixed filters to Advanced Search

$

We have a set of libraries with custom columns in each. These are resulting from importing metadata from a legacy document management system. What I need to be able to do is to set up a way of searching each of these libraries and associated metadata in isolation from each other.

I have created a page for each library using the advanced search web part and tried to customise it. I can add the metadata search fields sucessfully and use them to narrow down the search but the results page returns results from the whole subsite. I have had limited sucess using an additional column for each library that has a unique name and I can use the drop down to search that but I would like to be able to force that in the search.

I can do it with the simple search (setting additional query terms) but then I don't get the option to add the restrictions for the other columns. I thought I could edit the keywordQuery field to add in something like

metaterm:"ABC"

This works if I add it to a result type that already specifies a document type but not for the generic "All Results". What have I missed.

The result type that works only works if I use the OR operator and not the AND operator, I would have expected the AND to give me what I want and the OR to give me lots more results.

Hope someone can help

Thanks

Deny users from editing and/or deleting files within document libraries

$

Hi,

I am working on narrowing down our SharePoint 2010 webpage for our department. The department webpage is a SharePoint 2010 Site Workspace that contains four document libraries. Two of those four document libraries contain confidential documents that can be PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT and PPTX files. They contain information such as company agreements for example.

The thing is, we applied different groups with permissions on it. One group for read only rights and one group for design and/or contribute rights. But users in the read only group can still open the documents and change to editing mode and save the document. This still works and shouldn't be allowed. Another way that they can use is the 'Open in Explorer' mode and rename, edit or delete the files there.

My question is: How can we prevent users (or even better: specific groups) to only read the documents without a possible way of editing the files while others users (a different group) can still manage the documents.

Thanks in advance

Bram

Hello,

I have tried searching and have not come up with much luck.

I am looking for a powershell script that will delete all permission groups from a site or site collection. But I would also like the ability to set exclusions for a few particular groups to stay.

I would appreciate any help or direction to where I could find this.

Thanks
