User profile service do import all the profiles from AD and stores locally in DB. site collection also has user information list that holds the profile. As while in profile DB user profile is already exist then i am wondering why SharePoint still maintain at site collection level. Do anyone know?
with one of my customer environment has 40,000 site collections, it means that SP maintains 40,000 user information list that has same data. I am not convinced with this design decision.
