i am working on a environment that has three different farms. I need to setup the Document ID feature in these farms. I am thinking that Document ID of document should be unique across all three farms so that if document is moved between the farms document can still be located with Doc ID.
could anyone please help on below queries/issues.
1. How to setup the Doc Id feature so that Doc ID should be unique across the farms. As per my understanding i have to write a Doc ID web service that will generate the Doc ID, later this web service has to be configured in all site collections across the farm. hope it should work.
2. Second is, in some specific requirement i need to give admin capability to move the site collection across farms. when site collection is moved in different farm i suppose doc id of document should not be changed. i have done a lot of Google however i haven't get ant lead of solution.
3. In single farm we can load the document by Doc ID (using /_layouts/DocIdRedir.aspx), even after document is moved to some other site collections with in same farm, Doc id is still work, old link to document still work. I got the requirement that if document or site collection having the document is moved to another farm, old link to document should still be valid. I have been thinking a lot however i couldn't get any lead yet.
4. how to provide the document & site collection move capability across multiple farm. i suppose out of the box it is not possible i have to write the custom code for same.
help will be highly appreciated.
