Calculated default value for date column not being shown in DIP (Word Document Information Panel)

I have a column of type datetime set to initially display a calculated date three years ahead of today. As the default value I have set '=TODAY()+1095' in the Calculated value field. So far so good.

If I upload a document and set the document properties through the property form interface this works smooth, BUT when starting a document from one of the associated content types through the New Document button in the ribbon, it does not. The date-field displays OK in the DIP, but the default value is not set to the calculated value. It's simply empty.

This only happens when default value is calculated. If I set it to a hardcoded date or the built in 'Today' option - the dates are displayed also in the DIP.

Any thoughts?
