Records and content organizer rules

I have configured a record centre.

I have configured a content organizer rule to place records into folders.

They need to be in folders since the retention is being managed at the folder level.

So far so good.

The problem is that whilst I can automatically create a folder with the content organizer rule I cannot set the folder content type so I can't implement retention.

My options seem to be

1. Set the content type manually on the folder.

2. Customisation.

Hopefully someone has better news for me than this?
