Content control in Sharepoint - why do bullets disappear?

Hi,

I am using content controls in Microsoft Sharepoint 2010 to expose external data.

When I insert listings with bulletpoints wether they are in the form of symbols/numbers/letters into the content control, these symbols/numbers/letters disappear in the document exposing the external data. The indent is kept, but the symbols/numbers/letters disappear. Can anyone explain this?

I am not programming but using UI.
