I have found that in Office Web Apps 2010 SP1 Enterprise Edition June 2013 CU, Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise Edition, IE 9, CSU July 9, 2013, and in my mysite I am playing with this.
I open in Office Web Apps, and Excel file, with data and text, nothing fancy!
I go to the Edit in Browser and edit it.
I just tried to add http://www.bing.com/ using the same method and at first I addedhttp://www.bing.com/ and then I clicked on Personal Documents after waiting maybe 4 seconds. I then clicked on the XLSX document and then bing was there! AWESOME! But that would NOT be why I was writing! Glad it worked, yet frustrated that it didn't work before. I closed out of the XLSX Office Web App Excel file and clicked again on the Personal Documents and then opened up the XLSX file again, into Office Web Apps automatically.
It is NOT there!
I have to close out of the window, for me, InPrivate as I am writing / testing with another account, and it works! I "get" the 2nd hyperlink, Bing.com that I added.
This is NOT reasonalbe for users to have to "know" to CLOSE out of possibly ALL IE windows!
I went to the timer job to set Office Web Apps Cache Creation to 1 minute from 5 to see if that would "fix" this as if I could tell my users "sorry this isn't working, but wait 1 minute" they MIGHT not burn me at the stake!
Please let me know if there is anything that I an do to make this work / be resolved!
I have in my development environment Office Web Apps SP2 and SharePoint Enterprise Edition SP2 June 2013 CU, so I can test it.
Testing it now.
Copied the Excel file to my dev environment.
Opened in Office Web Apps.
CLicked on a cell, clicked on the Insert tab and clicked on the Hyperlink under Links and typed inhttp://www.microsoft.com and then clicked on the document library in the breadcrumbs, exiting me out of the Office Web Apps Excel file.
In the Document Library, I clicked on the Excel File and it took me back to the Office Web Apps document andhttp://www.microsoft.com/ was not there. I realized that I have not changed the 5 minute default for Office Web Apps Cache Creation
Going into Central Administration currently to try to get the timer to be updated from 5 minutes to 1 minute.
Dev is taking some "time" getting me into Central Administration, so I refreshed the window. I didn't have it refresh. I closed out the window and opened it up again, it's been over 5 minutes and the hyperlink appeared.

(Edited this) I forgot to put in that Hyperlinks are NOT working in Excel if people right click and select Hyperlink. I think for the organization that I work for, 99.9% people use this and not the click click click to the Ribbon and then Insert and Hyperlink.
Is there any way to get the hyperlinks to be clicked in Office Web Apps instead of opening in Excel. If you have Viewer then the user can't open in the Client.
