Disabled checout popup window on document library click

Hi everybody,

I have a question for you that will be a challenge i believe :). When you click on a document you have this window that ask you to checkout and open or just open the document. I want to remove that popup. I want my users to click on the document and the document open (no popup window). My users have no right for editing those files only the site admin can. I have search many solutions but none work for me.

This is the window i want to remove.

When i do a search, in the result page the same link to the file open correctly without this popup. The solutions i have tried so far.

- Remove the versionning and the chekout on the library. Result: Deception !

- Set the permiessions of group the user was in to read only. Result: False hope !

- Change some list settings believing that it would to any good. Result: Reach the bottom of the bottomless pit of despair, took a shovel and dig further down. Please help.

Impediment to any proposed solution.

- The client is in a no-code mode. So no C# or VB for a solution.

- I would prefer a solution that does not imply to change the configuration of every single IE security zone for every single user (4000 users in 2 countries). But if it's the only way i'll adapt myself and put those users to work.

Thanks
