Please help me to break into this SP opportunity!
Scenerio:
My supervisor wants to give me a title of Documentation specialist or Documentation manager and I will initially be tasked with acquiring specifications for our potential SharePoint solution. I can get allocation of up to 300GB HDD space and my choice of MS Server 2008 R2 or MS Server 2013. I have acquired some training in SP 2010 (so I do want to use SP2010) and also have some web design skills. I work for a managed services IT company and my particular division has 6 Technicians.
I need to create and organize all documentation to support our clients (internal documentation) with searchable and hopefully highly relevant search results. The documentation will fall into 6 major categories.
- Troubleshooting
- Hardware
- Software
- Credentials
- Contacts
- Other
Questions:
Any known solutions or case studies similar to mine that I can mimic? i.e. I got some SP books from amazon but would like documentation that is more specific to my upcoming implementation.
How should I prepare documentation in anticipation of my SP solution ? i.e. should I think about each documentsproperties ? as far as meta, keywords etc… that I will be building now even though I will not implement SP for another month or so?
Is SP Foundation enough for this solution? i.e. no heavy work flows for this portion.. just thorough documentation needs to be returned for our searches

If I do well on this project I will then take on our company wide collaboration (which then might lead to external clients) so I will eventually utilize SP to its fullest extent.. but I really need to knock this first project out of the park. I truly appreciate your feedback and expertise!
Thank you in advance! .. Jim
