TMG / InfoPath 2010 / SharePoint 2010 / Poor https performance

Hello,

We are experiencing a substantial performance difference between HTTP and HTTPS protocols on a public facing site that uses an InfoPath form and the GetUserProfileByName web service.

In a nutshell

* Users are authenticated via ForeFront TMG
* A wildcard certificate is employed (*.company.com)
* InfoPath form is published as a Content Type
* Form Library uses the above form
* When adding a new document, the rules on the form load will invoke the GetUserProfileByName web service (defined as a UDCX in the Data Connections library)
* We are seeing a 20+ second delay on the form displaying - but NOT always. It seems to be every other time the form is invoked, or thereabouts.

This issue occurs ONLY when accessing via HTTPS. There is NO delay if we publish and access via an HTTP URL.

I performed a second test with a very basic form to confirm it was not an issue with main from. This second form has a button on it that will invoke the GetUserProfileByName web service when clicked. Same issue - if we are accessing via HTTPS externally, we'll see response times of ~20 seconds, ~1 second, ~20 seconds, ~1, ~1, ~20, ... - The "pattern" shows that it is not fully repeatable as we sometimes get quick replies in succession. Again, this does NOT occur if we access via HTTP.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? I find it hard to believe that we are the only ones - but I can find nothing in my searches.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If additional info is required, please let me know.

Thanks

Chris
