We have a new Foundations farm. 2WFE, 1App, 1SQL servers.
When trying to set up alerts on lists or libraries. Set up alert with defaults of any changes, notify immediately.
We get the confirmation email that the alert was set up. However we don't get alerts when new items are created or any editing functions.
Created a workflow with SPD to send an email on new item creation. That works perfectly. So that indicates to me that SMTP is working correctly and it is not an Exchange problem.
I have seen a lot of alert questions on the boards but they mostly point to outgoing email configuration. The fact that the workflow is operating correctly eliminates this.
