currently going through the book for this exam. While doing so am trying to the practical exercises using the lab environment build and some of the practical exercises at the beginning of the book.

I've went through the 'Lab Environment Build' document to build two virtual machines for Contoso-DC and SP2010-WFE1, making Contoso-DC the domain controller.
I've got the part where I need to log onto SP2010-WFE1 as Contoso/Administrator to create an organizational unit and create user accounts for
-SQL Server Service Account
-SQL Server Administrator Account
Problem i encountered was i couldn't log onto SP2010-WFE1 as a different user or a different user from a different domain. And on SP2010-WFE1 i couldn't get any active directory to just manually add them logged in under SP2010-WFE1 administrator. So I promoted SP2010-WF1 as a domain controller as well ( i know i shouldn't have, but i can de-promote it?) just so i could get active directory to manually add the users on SP2010-WFE1. But when i go to active directory it wants you to add it to the contoso.com domain which i can't seem to add.
I need to add these users so i can install SQL Server 2008 R2
if anyone understands what my problem is and where am going wrong help would be much appreciated. Please note i have followed the steps exactly on the lab environment build document - only difference making the SP2010-WFE1 to a domain controller to get active directory.
Can't get any further until i get these users and SQL Server 2008 R2 installed
