I am new to this forum (and SharePoint), but have worked in other authoring environments. I found the MS Word Quick Part functionality very useful, so I set about implementing it for a Document Library on one of our sites. My problem relates to a problem when editing a default value for some metadata.
Here is the scenerio:
We are provisioning templates to create a site that contains a Document Library. After the site is provisioned, the writers go into the Library Settings and set default values for "Customer Name" and "Project Name" in the hopes that those values will automatically populate the documents with those DOCPROPERTIES (configured in the documents using Quick Parts | Field).
To my dismay, the fields remain blank, even after opening/saving the document. It is only when I upload a new document into the library that the document takes on the default values for those DOCPROPERTIES.
Is there a way to force/refresh the existing DOCPROPERTIES for all the documents in the Document Library after default values have been edited in the Library Settings?
I am running SharePoint 2010 Server and MS Word 2010/Win7
