Workflow - Issue with setting a task field

Hi,

I have created a custom approval workflow which has two approval tasks.

The workflow gets initiated when an item is created and it updates a field in parent list before it starts an approval task (field is called num which is a number field that has value of ID field). The updated field is then used in another calculated column in parent list to get unique id such as EX-0001 where 1 is the ID of an item (the formula is: =CONCATENATE(LEFT([Training Providers],2)&"-"&(TEXT(Num,"0000"))).

Within the first approval taskà under Change the behaviour of a single taskà before a task is assignedà I am setting the unique id value to a workflow variable. The value of workflow variable is then set to a task field.

The issue I have is, the task sets value of old unique id instead of using the updated unique id i.e. i see EX-0000 in the task list instead of EX-0001.

Any help would be appreciated.
