What deployment plan should I Choose ?

Hi,

I have a backed-up site collection and need to work on it to include some new custom web parts. Then I have to deploy this modified site collection so that meanwhile existing uploaded data in the site collection on server not affected. Is there any deployment plan that can be applied in this case?
