Set the default value of an attribute based on an attribute from the wiki page in which the web part resides

Sorry for the awkward title, here's what I'm tring to do.

I have a custom sharepoint list and a wiki page library.  Each wiki page in the library has a list view web part showing items from the custom list.  The view of the web part is filtered by an attribute (using a text filter on the wiki page) so on each wiki page users only see the items in the list that relate to the wiki page.

When users add a new item from the list view web part they have to select an item from a drop down to make the item show up in the filtered wiki page view.

Is it possible to set the default value of the drop down to display an attribute from the wiki page library itself?

IE if I have a wiki page library with an attribute called category and one page with the attribute set to "bikes" and another page with the attribute set to "boats" both have a view of a list that has both bikes and boats in it.  If I create a new item from the "bike" wiki page can I make the new item form defaul the category field to "bike" and likewise if someone creates a new item on the "boat" wiki page the item defautls the attribute to "boats"
