Hello,
I have a document library that is assosiated with a custom site content type, which in turn contains some site (MANAGED METADATA) columns. All the columns are configured to be optional (well, they weren't in the beginning, but now they are). There are a bunch of documents in that library that have already been tagged. My problem is that now there is a need for certain tags to be removed (blanked out), but SharePoint WON'T let that happen!
So here is the sequence:
1. Hit "Edit Properties" for a document inside the library
2. Blank out a managed metadata field
3. Hit "Save"
4. The value that has been just blanked out is.....RETAINED.
To add to the riddle, it only happens on certain managed metadata columns. So let's say if I had Column 1 and Column 2, it would let me blank out Column 2, but not Column 1. Both columns are managed metadata and are configured exactly the same, at least as far as I can see.
This blows my mind!!! Why can't I untag a document? The fields are NOT required! Why are the values preserved? Anyone ran into something like this before?
Would appreciate any hints!
Thank you,
Ilya
