Add picture to list from another list based on parameter

Hello

I'm using SharePoint foundation 2010 and SharePoint Designer to build a training website for my company.

I currently have a list of training courses, each course has an associated icon(.png) stored in a picture field.

I have a sepearte training records list that I want to populate with learner names and the courses that they completed. I'm using lookup fields to populate the training records sheet with the training description from the training course list so they don't need to be entered manually.

What I can't seem to do is get the icon from the course list to populate in the training records list as you can't perform a lookup on a picture field.

Does anyone have a workaround, maybe a workflow that can make this happen?
