hello all I'm new around here and I'm working on a sharepoint project, is there a way of auto filling fields in a list? let's say I type an identification on the form and some general data and then by the identification it will connect to a database and pull out information like name, age, organization from from a physical database that I have access, and fill the textboxes in the form. I've been looking for a while but I haven't found anything that adapts to my necessity, I have seen some examples were they connect Silverlight to a list to make a view but that is for editing. And I saw sharepoint designer but I wasn't able to find where can I code connections or custom necessities.
Still don't know which is the best way of doing this connection, since I guess I need visual studio or some sort of code environment.
btw I'm new to sharepoint but not to development in general.
BTW I'm using sharepoint 2010
