Displaying a Sharepoint document library on an internet public facing website

My question is, is there out of the box functionality to display the contents of a document library on an anonymous access enabled public facing SharePoint 2010 website?

I have a document library with many documents of pdf and .doc types and the following cols: Name,  Subject, Author

I want my public facing webpage to simply display the list of documents with an icon showing the doc type along with the above column headings. I have tried the List View web part which gives me almost the display I want along with sorting capabilities of columns (bonus) but it also has selection checkboxes and it seems to be asking for a login when a user clicks the link.  Also, there is the context drop down menu appearing next to the default name col.
